Creating A Border For The Tv Overscan Area/ Overlays

First, thanks for taking the time to test play the videos :)

There doesn't seem to be a problem other than it's not recommended to host streaming media on a shared server. My option is a dedicated server, which isn't in the budget right now. The timing out seems to coincide with higher traffic times, so maybe try back later, or a different day. Those two are the longest, so I'll keep any future video tips a lot shorter, and hopefully, going forward, avoid the problem altogether.

Most, if not all, have text directions listed under the videos, so give those a try, too.

I had same problem, both with letting it download fully in IE, and downloading with RealPlayer 11. The latter only downloads part (amount varies) and then says download complete. Tried several of the videos, all that I tried have the same problem.

I had used RealPlayer successfully a long time ago (June 2008 according to the file's date modified) to download the videos, so I think the problem is with the host server.

Hi karri,

I thought the problem was sorted when I played the videos again

karri, for the border video, I see that it is 5:56 and it played to the end for me.

Thanks Steve, it doesn't seem to happen every time, but after several tries I am also able to get it to stop and not start again. I have a trouble ticket in and will let you know what I find out. Thanks for the assist :)

Thanks Jean, I have been monitoring it and it does seem to have gone downhill pretty quickly. I'm not sure, maybe they want to drive off people who are streaming, I just don't know. I don't want to frustrate users and so I'll probably just take them down until I can come up with a better solution. I'll leave the text, though, so the links aren't dead.

I am trying to watch the tutorial on http://www.emctips.com/if/ps_tv_overscan.html, but it keeps stopping after 1.5 minutes. Anyone mind sending it to me? I would like to create borders for the overscan area. i am also interested in creating my own overlays, if anyone can help me there.

Wait until the video completely downloads before pushing the play button. If it stops downloading, it is because of your ISP or browser. Hve you ever cleared the junk from your browser?

There is no good way of sending it to you other than from that web site. I'm sure you don't expect someone to download it, put it on a disc and snail mail it to you.

As Steve said, you must wait until the file has downloaded. Because these are video files, they are much larger and take longer to load than other files. To the right of the player controls (Play, Pause, Stop buttons) is a green status indicator. Wait for that to reach all the way to the end (on the right) before pressing the Play button.

Karri - the video stopped for me too, but at 2min 28sec. Perhaps it's not downloading entirely?

Even with the green bar all the way across? They are very large files, even so they should play once they are fully downloaded. They preload 50% so for those with fast connections it will play through because the rest will load while playing. With slower connections, they should probably be fully loaded before playing. I've got to leave right now, but will check on it later with the site provider. Thanks for testing Gary :)

The TV overscan video worked for me but the snowman one stopped playing at 5:29 (it is 6:44 min long). :(

Thanks Jess. I don't know what's up with them. I'll call over there today and maybe find out what's going on.

Yes

Thanks Gary. The file sizes are big, but not that big (32 and 49 MB) and if they are loaded they should play so I'll call over there today and try to troubleshoot.
