Help Burning Movies Using Popcorn

MelanieG

Question

Hi,

I'm new at burning DVD's and using MAC software so am a little lost and have limited knowledge in this area. I have movies on my computer that are in AVI format and can't seem to burn them using popcorn. It burns, however, I just a black screen - no movie was actually burnt to the DVD. What am I doing wrong? I have my video settings set to NTSC. Please help me. Any suggestions would be much appreciated as I'm all out of ideas.

Thanks,

M

Since you are using AVI's for the source you should install the perian codec available at www.perian.org. That deals with an audio issue so it isn't going to fix the black screen issue.

Have you browsed through the Popcorn Getting Started Guide available through the Help window?

Choose DVD-video as the format in the DVD section of Popcorn. Add your AVIs. Name the DVD and prepare the menu you the way you want. When ready to burn, instead choose Save as Disc Image in the File menu. Toast creates a disc image of your DVD on the hard drive that you can preview before burning it to disc.

To preview the disc image select it using the Image File setting in the DVD section of Popcorn. Then click Mount if it doesn't automatically mount. When mounted it should automatically launch DVD Player for you to view the DVD. If it looks the way you want, insert a blank disc and click the burn button in Popcorn.

Choosing Save as Disc Image also lets you create a dual-layer-sized disc image that can have Fit-to-DVD compression applied to burn to a single-layer disc. Just follow the same steps as above.
