Main Interface Not Working....

Hello All,

I haven't posted for awhile, but I regrettably report another glitch. I tried to use Creator a couple of weeks ago to edit a music video to post on my band pages, but the interface wouldn't open, just got the error "Roxio has encountered a problem and needs to close". I was, however, able to open individual apps, but couldn't import my footage in any format, finally gave up after trying for 3 hours. Last week I tried to move various files from a storage drive to DVD without success, (Isn't Creator able to create iso's?).

I tried to update, and got the message no updates available for your product. Tonight however, I find there's not only an update available, but I've missed the last two. I installed update 4, and now the interface is working again, but I haven't tested any apps.

Any feedback, and getting me up to speed since my last post would be much appreciated.

Roxio has issued SP4 for the program – have you downloaded and applied it?

I wish it so simple. I can not download sp4. Is it because I have Creator 2009 special edition?

I am so frustrated. I put in a help ticket. The help ticket was closed without providing any help. Does anyone exist at Roxio? What should I do?

What do you mean you can't download it? Or, are you saying that you have downloaded the file, but it won't INSTALL?

Would SP4 even work with C2009 Special Edition? There is a post about another user who installed SP4 on a C2009 SE and now he has all sorts of problems.

 

Roxio states that the updates are only for the full, retail versions. Does that include the SE version?

The Special Edition IS THE FULL RETAIL VERSION!!!!

 

The ONLY difference is that it also includes the Roxio Video Capture USB.

 

SP4 applies to:

  • Creator 2009
  • Creator 2009 Special Edition
  • Creator 2009 Ultimate

I am having the same problem. The main interface won't start and I get the same message as the first poster. I have applied service pack 4 as well. Although the interface doesn't work I can still access all the applications, it is just a bit odd and annoying that the interface is not working properly. I have even tried a clean install following the instructions from this site without success.

Hi Jim,

Yes, I have downloaded and applied SP4, (see original post), but haven't tried to run any of the apps yet, specifically video editing or disk burning, which haven't worked right since the first install. (December 08). As I said before, now the main interface is working, but I can't say if the apps are repaired as well, and will run through the problem areas and see if they work now, and I'll let you know the results.

After 2 more tries at the clean install it seems to be working again.

It is nice because this is a very versatile program. I use it for so many projects. I recently sent out a picture dvd for an invitation to an anual upcoming party. I included pictures from previous years parties with just the right music to accompany it.
