Creator 2009 Does Not Recognize Roxio Usb Unit

rkeen

Question

I have installed the Roxio USB Capture unit according to the instructions. It shows up in Device Manager.

However, it does not show up in the 'Capture From' pull down window in Creator 2009 when I go to transfer my tapes to digital format. I am using WinXP SP3, and I have the latest Roxio SP4 installed.

Any suggestions?

This is very frustrating!

Thanks in advance.

However, it doesn't show up with the Tape/LP Digital Conversion Assistant.
Originally, this feature using the USB device was NOT included in Creator 2009. It was added later with Service Pack 3 I think. Make sure you have updated Creator 2009 with SP4. Reboot and try again.

Personally, it doesn't show at all in WinXP, but does in Vista. However I can't capture audio in either OS without a work-around.

Hello GGRussell,

Ok, this is good to know. Yes, I have the latest Roxio Creator 2009 Special Edition updated to SP4, and no go. I tried a few other things, such as making sure the Audio Recording device settings in WinXP was set to the Roxio USB Device, but that didn't help either.

I also did a full re-install of Roxio Creator 2009, and no difference.

So, I am inclined to believe that capturing audio through the Roxio USB device with the LP/Tape Assistant (SP4) is not possible on WinXP SP3.

I will have to try this with my other machine which is running Windows Vista and see if it works. Roxio should have listed this on the packaging or website.

At least the Video Capture program recognizes the Roxio USB Device as a capture source.

Thanks again for your feedback, I really appreciate it!!

In Device Manager do your drivers for the Audio and Capture Device look like these?

It is suppose to work and does work for some users. One user posted in another thread that he was told by Roxio Tech support that it doesn't work with the Realtek Audio Chipset. Doesn't make sense to me, but I do have Realtek so perhaps there is a hardware conflict between them.

I know you stated that you have the Audigy, but what is on your motherboard? Is it Realtek? Did you disable it in the BIOS?

Hello Jim,

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

Yes, it shows up in Device Manager just fine as I mentioned in my post. The problem is that it doesn't show up in the Roxio Creator 2009 Tape to Digital Assistant program. Specifically, it doesn't show up in the 'Capture With' pull down window.

Would you recommend that I uninstall the Roxio Creator 2009 applications and then reinstall? Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

rkeen

The USB 2681 device shows up as a capture source with the Roxio Creator 2009 Video Capture/Import application.

However, it doesn't show up with the Tape/LP Digital Conversion Assistant. This application only shows my Soundblaster Audigy soundcard as an option on the 'Capture From' menu.

Why is this the case?
