VideoWave 8 and adding music

I have been using Roxio since version 5 and so am fairly familiar with many of its features. I now have the version 8 suite, (and have downloaded and installed the patch) and have just finished producing a slideshow using videowave. As usual, I have added music - and this is where the problem lies. The track shows up OK, yet sometimes it plays and sometimes it does not. The music files have all been converted and when I go to edit them, some show details so you can edit and others do not.

 

I am really confused as to what is happening and/or how I can fix it. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Can you see any pattern regarding the source of the music file? Are some downloaded from an online service and others from an LP or cd?

Thanks for your prompt response. No I cannot see any pattern. I have used both Creator Suite 8 and iTunes to convert the music from CD's and the tracks are stored on my hard disk. I can play them from the hard disk, but only some of them retain their playing qualities when added to the music track of videowave.
