Roxio Video Capture Documentation

robmel

Question

I just bought Roxio Creator 2009 from Sam's store which also included the Roxio Video Capture USB hardware and a CD with the drivers for the capture hardware.

Is there documentation available explaining the correct way to use the capture USB for both video and LPs?

Thanks,

RM

I'll check further in the areas you mentioned. I wasn't sure how the USB capture device was hooked up when recording an LP record but now I think I can see that it's the "USB Audio Device" shown in the Recording Setup information connected to the PC.

Thanks for the help.

First let me say I was able to see the USB Capture Device in Device Manager once I installed the correct driver for Vista - thanks to showtopic 43928 from Jim_Hardin.

I sent a request to Roxio for documentation for the Video Capture feature and this was their reply:

Thank you for contacting Roxio support,

Unfortunately we do not have any specific instructions for the USB capture device, however you can always contact our technical support department if you have any specific questions about connections or usage. You can either reach them by phone at (877) 769-4601 (M-F 9am-6pm EST) or use our email ticket and live chat available at selfserve.roxio.com.

Maybe it's me but you would think if there's a device being manufactured for use there would (or should) be documentation on how to use it properly.

???

It is an A/D convert that hooks to a PC via USB. So you can use it in conjunction with any program that will capture from USB… it is your Source

There are some oddities with that. Windows Movie Maker will capture with the device in XP but in Vista it has been removed! I tried it with another program I have and it won’t recognize the device.

When I wrote the little article in the How To audio capture was not possible. It became possible with the Creator 2009 SP2 update and is in all updates since then.

Before this I had a $200 A/D device that came with no software, no cables and no instructions. Like this device, all you do is plug it in and use it.

Thanks for the link.

I forgot to mention that I have Vista as my OS. I think the information in the topic I linked to was mainly for XP as I'm unable to find the USB Capture Device in Device Manager. Also I didn't see any reference to copying LP records to CDs - it was mainly for video.

I was wondering if Roxio had a users guide for this device either on the Internet or available in hard copy.

Thanks again.

How about when using the LP record capture function how are those connections made?

Sorry for the questions but I dont understand that part of the capture function.

Thanks for the help.

What part don't you understand, their are diagrams in the LP and Tape Assistant showing the connections.

Click on the Help in that application.
