Open Roxio Media Manager. Browse to the folder where the video clip is located and right click on the file. Select Extract Image. Pause on the frame that you want captured. Then press Extract Image button.

thanks for the reply. I tried this and get to the point where I'm paused, but the "Extract Image" button stays

grey--where I can see it but it's not available.

I moved this thread to Creator 2009 forum as that is the name of the software you mentioned.

Did your version come pre-installed with your PC or came bundled with a new burner? If so your version of the software might be a strip down version of the rertail version and might might not have all features available.

I got it at Best Buy and it's Roxio Creator, 2009--but maybe there's a better version.

Thanks for the reply.

Sounds you got the retail version which should have the full functionality of the software. No idea why it is greyed out.

Thanks for hanging with me...and yes, that looks exactly like the screen I get--except that stinkin' button is grayed out. I just download the April update package--no change--and sent a ticket to the "official" support at Roxio. Don't know what else to try.

Thanks

Where is the video (movie) located? Is it saved on the hard drive or is it from a DVD?

It's on the hard drive AND in the media manager in an album...but you got me thinkin' and

I tried a couple other places.

And I found out I CAN make it work if I convert a higher density image to a mpeg. It seems

to work for any mpeg clips.

So maybe that's the ticket. Thanks for the question. I think I can bumble around with

it from here and convert the clips I have when I need an image.

Sounds like you got it sorted out.

What type of media file are you trying to extract image from? What is "higher density image"?

The files are from a Canon HD camera and the clips (that I haven't converted to mpeg)

have an m2ts extension which I understand are more compressed? I'm no expert on this

stuff.

Thanks again.
