Converting Cassette Tapes To Cd's

DeniseG

Question

I just purchased Roxio Creator 2009 SE. Now I'm thinking I wished I hadn’t. First, I had problems getting the software to recognize the video capture usb and had to download some service pack.

Now that I got the program to recognize the usb connector, I can't get it to record my cassettes. I know I have everything connected correctly. I am using the headphone jack and connected the other end with red on red and white on white.

I was hoping someone could help me. Am I doing something wrong? Or does this need another service pack?

Please Help

I only have the head phone jack on the player, or the speaker connections, could I connect from the speaker jack to the sound card?

I don't know what sound card I have on my computer.

I have updated to sp4 (service pack)

Thanks I will try the work around.

Yea! You have been most helpful. I connected directly to the sound card and finally got it to work. Thanks so much for all your help.

What do you have for a cassette player? I'm going to guess some sort of "boombox" type thing? Or something with a cassette player all built in? If so, then yes, the best output you have is the headphone output. Don't try connecting the speaker output... it's much too high a level.

Now, from a previous question, what do you have for a computer, a laptop or desktop/mini-tower? If it's not a laptop, you can take the output from your cassette player directly to the line-in on your sound card, rather than needing to use the USB device. If you have a laptop, they usually only have a mic-in jack, in which case, you'll want to use the USB device.

So, give us a bit more information about your setup so we know what you're working with.

1) do not use head phone jack; use audio out on the player.

2) What audio device (card or chip) do you have on your computer? Laptop or desktop? If a desktop, it is better if you go into your desktop audio card rather than use the USB device.

3) Have you updated Creator 2009 to SP4 (is that the "some service pack"?

Some people just can't make it work and there is no rhyme or reason. It may simply be the audio card/chip. There is a work around by opening Media Import and select to capture video (with audio). Do not connect the video (yellow). The use the application digitize LP and tapes to capture the audio from the device. Note that I haven't tried this but others have.

I have no problem capturing from a Boom Box with a Cassette, CD, Radio, with a mini headphone jack ( Y ) cord plugged into the Roxio USB Capture Device, in XP or Vista..

Question, exactly where is the Roxio USB capture device plugged into on your PC, be specific?

cd
