Burning Larger Than 9 Gb Images On Multiple Dvd's

wisemasterbldr

Question

One of the features an older cd burning software offered was files larger than cd or dvd size, would burn as a continuous series onto additional cd's or dvd's. If you have a file say 12gb, it would burn 4.3 on first dvd, ask for another dvd, continue burn on second dvd and so on until whole project was burned as a series, Roxio burns a trailer at the end of each dvd asking for insertion of next dvd into dvd player. This would be a great asset to doing seminars and singings onto multiple disks without having to break each video down to 4.3 or 8.5 gb size projects. I video large seminars and it is a great headache to break videos into smaller files. This would be a great service pack or update to Roxio 2009 Special Edition. :D

Would appear that you need to spend some time reading the manual or search the Help file. So far you have asked for two features that already exist. To do what you want, use Creator Classic. Create a 'data' disc project. Choose the disc size and add the files. Creator Classic will show you how many discs will be required at the bottom.

It sounds like the original poster has 1 large, multi-hour video that he wants to put onto a series of DVDs that will be played back-to-back. He uses the term "image" so maybe it's already been rendered as a .ISO file, or possibly it's just a single large video file. You're suggesting that Creator Classic will let him select that image file and burn it across multiple discs that are playable... at least that's how I interpret what's been posted so far, and I don't think that's correct.

Am I way off base in my interpretation?

That's not how I read it, but if that is what he wants, I don't know of ANY DVD authoring application that will do that.

Me either, but when he speaks of it "putting a trailer for the next disc" at the end of the "previous" disc, and not having to manually split the files down...

Of course, we don't know what the duration of any of these are, so we don't know if it's an hour, (fits well on one DVD, regardless of source file size) or 2 hours (fits well on one DL disc, regardless of source file size) or 3, 4 or more hours... best broken into multiple bits.

Wisemasterbldr, give us some more details of your projects, duration, etc.
