Create Dvd With Photos

danroxio

Question

Hello,

I try to make DVD with about 300 photos. Ideally, it should be run on DVD with TV and on computer too. I am photographer and I want to be able to give pictures after shooting to customers then it will be interesting to be able to see the name of the pictures at the display time for the customer selection.

How can I do it?

Sorry, if my question is stupid...

Sorry for my english

Thanks for any help

PS. I work with Roxio creator 2009

Read the many "How to Topics" in this forum and other Roxio forums  Its impossible to answer your "How can I do it?" question in a few paragraphs

Here is a good post to help you get started

The software doesn’t really ‘just do it’ but there are plenty out there that will add it to the pic.

I was hoping Kari might jump in here with a suggestion

I am desappointed, I bought Roxio for only to be able to burn DVD with a bundle of photos with some identification on it and I realize that I am not able to do that in simple way.

I took a look to the topics...

All I want to know is: how may add the photo's name in the slideshow? If I have 300 photos, during the slideshow I want to see at each time the name of each one.

You will have to add the names manually as a text effect

Try to work through your pain

In some cases the lack of a feature is an indication of its’ popularity… We see about 2 or 3 questions about this over a year.

I have a $100 paint program and it doesn’t do that, nor the $80 picture program I had before that. Some years ago I found a shareware program that did but it permanently altered the original pictures with the added text!!!

Read through the How To tips from various versions – something may strike you:

Well, I haven't seen any software that will do what you are trying. Especially not in a "simple" way.

The only software I came across that may, and I stress may do what you are looking for is called Picture Player. I haven't tried it out so I'm not sure if it would do exactly what you are looking for.

That doesn't mean it can't be done however.

There is a free app that many of us here use and recommend for resizing and batch processing picture files for use in projects called Image Cropper [iC].

A feature that it has is that you can add text to your files [kindof like a watermark] and output it to new files [keeps your original intact]. One of the text options is to add the file name automatically. You can choose the font size, color and position.

Using IC you could add all of your files, set it to add the filename, then 'batch' process them to a new set of files with the names on them. You could do this in less than 5 min. Then use the 'cropped/named' files in your production to make the DVD.

I've attached an image showing an example of this for you.

Using IC, I opened all 4 original files.

Used the text tool to add the filename to each picture [i set the font rather large so it would be easier to see in the attachment].

Set the 'filename suffix' to be " with name". This adds " with name" to the original file name when it saves them.

Set the option to 'batch process' all the files.

Used the 'save as' function to batch save all four files [i would normally save them in a separate folder, but left them in the original folder for the screenshot].

You then get the results shown below.

Thank you for your answers.

I will try something with IC.

My mind is not to denigrate Roxio, I am just hoping to get solution to my problem.

I can see that you would have a real need for this and it makes 110% good sense to me!

I just don’t know where to find it any more… The one I had was on Win95!
