Photo Cd

I downloaded photos from camera to computer. Then created CD with these photos

via drag & drop feature in Easy CD Creator 5. Photos are on the CD but local photo services

cannot read the CD and in fact state that "no photos found". What's wrong ????

There are two main methods of writing CDs used by the Easy CD Creator suite.

 

1) Direct CD, where you format a disc and drag 'n' drop files onto it. This is a proprietory format meant for local use, and it won't be readable by most other systems.

 

2) CD Creator which writes a STANDARD CD ROM onto an unformatted CD.

 

You should use method 2 if you want to produce CDs which can be reliably read by other people or even yourself if your system changes.

And be advised that these boards are searched by google and other search engines, which in turn are searched by spammers seeking to "harvest" email addresses for spamming purposes.

 

you would do well to edit your message to delete the email address - if it's not already too late.

I have recently run into this same problem. I copied 4 CDs worth of pictures before realizing that all 4 CDs are unreadable (Verbatim brand, Easy CD Creator 5.0). The first time I simply created a data CD then added all the images to the project, then burn the CD. There were zero errors or indications that things were not working properly.

 

I also used the Photo Album feature and selected each image to create a slide show CD. This process was simple and there were no indications of errors or failures. Once I placed the CD into another drive to be read I found that the disk is unreadable.

 

Now that I see this issues is occurring with someone else I am less likely to believe that I am doing something wrong or that my CDs are the cause. I am able to burn music to disk, copy CDs, and archive data other than “Photos.”

 

So my question here is, other than updating Easy CD creator or using alternative software, are there any other options or setting I could check or change?

 

I second question is “ Is there any way to recover the data that I know is on these CDs?”

This is not a complete answer, and I trust someone else, such as Brendon,will pick it up, BUT:

 

(1) if you want to KEEP the data, NEVER format the disc. Also, NEVER use CD-RW media if you want to KEEP the data.

 

(2) you can try one of the recovery programs, such as cdroller (www.cdroller.com) or ISOBuster (www.isobuster.com) - both have impressive testimonials on their websites and in the Roxio boards. Both now have "trial" versions which allow you to see if anything can be recovered before you have to pay.

 

If you used CD-R, the odds are pretty good.
