Transfering Hi8 To Computer

TsfrAgt

Question

I am trying to transfer a Hi8 tape from a Sony TRV70 camcorder. I have Roxio Creator 2009 and have loaded Service Pack 4. The USB2861 device shows up as my only pick. Status is No Signal and I can't seem to change it. I have the Roxio Video Capture USB device. I have tried hooking up the camcorder using the Yellow, White and Red lines. I have tried using the S video cord and a Y connection attached to the camcorder headphone outlet. I can't get a signal. I am using Vista. Any ideas?

Since you have DV camcorder, I think you should be using the Firewire (or IEEE 1394) connection for capturing.

Based on the manual for the Sony TRV70, it does have a A/V port on the camera and also the three red,/white audio & yellow RCA cable connections. Have you tried hooking up the Camcorder to your TV per ther manual's instructions and see if you get sound and audio on the TV ?? If yes, then hooking up those same cables as you have done to the Roxio C2009 USB capture device should yield the same results.

If the device driver (USB2861) shows up in the optional settings in the Roxio "Capture Video" program and also in the Vista Device Manager, you should be O.K. When you open C2009, click on the "Capture Video" Icon and that should give you that screen for capturing. Based on your post I assume this is the method you are using. Is there anything else you have done that would help us ?
