gdbeaver
What did you use to convert the AVCHD file? If you don't need any editing or little editing, you can add the AVCHD file to MyDVD and it will convert the file before burning. I used Roxio copy and convert dvd video, the used creat dvd advanced. The video works ok but no sound when playing back on my home dvd player.
gdbeaver
What is the extension on the video file? .MP4, .MTS, .MOV? The file I downloaded to my computer from the handycam was mt2s, then I used roxie to convert that to the dvd button in the convert software in roxie, in which it converted it to mpg. What is the best extention to convert avchd files to standard dvd players that will play on most dvds? If you could list the sequence such as... mt2s----avi----dvd (example) that would be great, unless I'm way off track. Thank you for your help...) gdbeaver
Which application are you using to convert? Video Copy & Convert? There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to add the .m2ts files directly to MyDVD without conversion. When you add the files to MyDVD, it will ask to convert to 'editable' format. Just click Yes and point to a folder to save the new file. The original is not changed. The converted files will still be hidef. At this point, edit the menu, chapter points, etc. When you burn to ISO, folder or directly to disc, MyDVD will then down convert to standard definition MPEG 2 files. The disc should play back on any DVD player. The file is like 24 gigs. After I clik yes and select file for conversion but still HD. Can I select only the amount to add to the DVD disk? Im using DVD+RW to burn to. I would like your feed back on the best DVD to burn to as well. I have AVS software as well. As you can see Im new to this HD conversion thing and as I said before I really do appreciate all your help.
ggrussell
Forget size... You can get ONE hour of best quality standard definition on a single 4.7GB blank video DVD. Adding more than one hour causes the video to more compressed which can lead to poorer quality. If you need to do some editing like cutting out parts, it would be best to start with Videowave first. Videowave is the 'editor'. Add transitions and special effects, etc. Save as Videowave project and you can add the Videowave project to MyDVD to create the menus, etc. MyDVD will then do all the rendering to standard definition MPEG 2 file and burn to the proper format.
