Cineplayer Tries To Update Codec, But Can't Find File

Randy L.

Question

I have just installed Creator 2009 recently. Now, whenever I try to play an MPEG video file by simply double-clicking on an MPEG file in Windows Explorer, Roxio Cineplayer automatically tries to update its CODEC. It looks for a file called "CPDECPACK.msi" on a removable disk. I tried having it look for this file on the Creator 2009 Installation disk, and the Video USB Driver disk, but that file is on neither of these disks. The closest filename that I could find is on the installation disk, in the directory "CPDECODERPACK_431/CPD.msi". I can get the MPEG video files to play with Windows Movie Player, but I have to cancel the Cineplayer codec update program several times in order to do that. I have Creator 2009 SP4 installed, and I have updated the Creator PX engine to v4.10.28a. I am using Windows Vista 32-bit Ultimate edition, and it is running on a Falcon Northwest Mach V computer. Does anyone know where I can find this "CPDECODERPACK.msi" file"? Any help will be greatly Appreciated.

Oops! As often happens, I fixed the problem shortly after I posted this message. I had upgraded from EMC9 to Creator 2009, so I happen to still have the EMC9 installation disks. When Cineplayer tried to update its CODEC again, I had it look on the EMC9 Program installation disk and it found the "CPDECPACK.msi" file and updated the CODEC. Now everything works normally. Sorry 'bout that!

Randy,

Thanks. I have had this problem for almost a year every since I upgraded to Creator 2009. In the past I just cancelled and eventually the program would run and I blamed it on the "Fall Guy", Windows Vista. I decided to search for an answer today because this codec request window started comin up every time I ope a folder with any kind of video. I had gone through all of the steps you had taken, I did not think to look on EMC9. But I will do that now. :)
