CD Rom Drive Locks

jwilleke

Question

When I install Roxio 8 on my Dell 9300 laptop, the internal CD/DVD rom drive is no longer usable.

When I uninstall Roxio 8, then it works fine.

I also have a couple of external, firewire and USB cd/dvd drives and they work fine always.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Your Dell comes with similar software preinstalled such as Sonic, which includes, Sonic DLA, a packet writing program that is in conflict with EMC's Drag to Disc. You can either install EMC without Drag to Disc or uninstall Sonic completely. There really isn't any reason, IMO, to have both installed anyway. The version of Sonic Dell has on your system is not the full version so you're best bet is to uninstall Sonic and reboot then install EMC.
