Skipping Frames

Question

Moved video clips from Canon HD camcorder to VideoWave production. When I preview, it seems to be consistently skipping several frames, creating a choppy preview. Associated audio seems to be fine, however. What could be causing the skipping?

Not much info

"moved clips" how? Preview where? If in VW then that preview is not a real indication of the final product.

Output a short segment of your video (perhaps a minute or so) to best quality mpg and play that through WMP. Do you still get the "frame skipping"?

What are your system specs, especially video card?

Transferred video from Canon HD video camera to PC using PIXELA Image Mixer 3 SE ver 3. Copied video into folder used in VideoWave production, which is where I previewed and found frames being skipped. I'll try testing a short segment.

Sounds DOA. Maybe one day I can upgrade.

You are drawing a lot of conclusions with no real basis…

You do not even know if there is a problem let alone where.

My PC shakes and stutters with HD files but produces perfect burns for my BD Player.

Burn one on RW before you start saving for a $30 video card.

Will do. I've drawn no conclusions at this point. Will continue working through this.

That's the spirit! :D

What is your output? Can you burn BD-RE?

If not and you have a BD Player you can create a AVCHD on DVD Project in MyDVD. (requires a BD Player to work)

Otherwise just burning it a DVD RW will still be a good valid test.

How long are you waiting between adding the video and trying to preview it? Load it, walk away and have a cold drink (or a bathroom break) and then try again. It takes a really long time for the video to complete loading. If you are tring to preview while the CPU is still working hard, it wll give the skipping especially with your hardware.

Also go to the HP site and see if there are updated drivers for that chipset. If so, install them accoriding to the instructions. It may not cure the problem but it might help some.

I will test by burning to DVD RW as I do not have a BD player.

Yes, it does take awhile to load. I gave it extra time to load and still have the skipping. Updated drivers about a month ago, so I think I am good there. Will be trying to burn to DVD RW soon as a test.

Take a short cut. Burn to an image file(ISO) from MyDVD. Load that image file onto a virtual drive (Creator tools) and then play it with CinePlayer or VLC free player. If it play ok, then it is just the preview in Video Wave.

If the ISO file plays, then just copy it to a DVD using Video Copy and Convert or "Burn Data Disc Advanced" (Creator Classic) or "Burn Disc Image".
