DVD Burner Not Recognized

Recommended Posts

Hello all;

I have had Easy CD/DVD Creator 6 Platinum for quite a while now and have never had problems until now. I purchased a new motherboard and Sony Atapi Dual Layer DVD burner. I transfered my computer HDD in the new computer. I had previously uninstalled roxio program when I switched to Nero. Now I have uninstalled Nero and re-installed Roxio. The first problem I encountered is that it keeps telling me to reboot the computer because of the update assistant even though it tells me the assistant ran successfully. It keeps doing that until I cancel the reboot. The final problem is that my DVD Burner is not recognized, the program tells me there is no device.

When I click to my computer in the control panel and right click on the D Drive, I see the drag to disc and I do see the drive, but it's just not recognized by Roxio.

Can anyone help me with this issue? The burner is obviously newer than the program. I had no problems with Nero recognizing my burner device, but Roxio is a wonderful program if I can get it to work right again.

Thank you for all support in advance.

Two things stike me here -

- The earliest Version to recognize DVD Dual Layer is EMC 7.1 - so if V.6 recognizes it at all, it would be as a generic burner.

- if you have formatted the disc with Drag2Disc, remove the disc and carefully put it somewhere else, such as the trashcan. Insert a BLANK blank, directly off the spindle or out of the package. Then the main program should be able to recognize the drive.

If you want to KEEP the data, NEVER format the disc. That applies not just with Drag2Disc, but also Nero's InCD, Sonic's DLA, etc. Packet-Writing is a great way to permantly LOSE the data.
