Desktop Icon won't open Roxio Central

Katy321

Question

The shortcut icon to Roxio Creator 2009 with the property target of "C:\Program Files\Roxio Creator 2009\Roxio Central 4\RoxioCentralFx.exe" will not open. The small red & white "ROXIO" logo appears on the screen and then the dreaded MS VISTA window appears saying "Roxio Creator has stopped working...Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." (Which, of course, is never going to happen). Anyway, I have uninstalled the program, reinstalled the program, applied the Service Pack 4, with no change in the problem.

If I use the "Start," "All Programs," and then find the individual application I want to use, I have no problems. Just wondering why the shortcut which should let you choose the program you want doesn't work.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I had the same problem for about two weeks. Go onto the microsoft web site, into updates and let it check your system for the latest updates. If you find one with .NET updates then download and install. This got rid of my problem. All the clean install answers did not work for me but this did. Good luck!!!!

I have the same problem for 2 days now and I installed all the .NET updates I could find and done a clean install as described but the problem still remains. Please help again :)

The Roxio SP4 needs to go on after you have installed the MS .net updates since the MS .net updates break a link needed by Roxio. I hate to sound like a broken record but do a clean install (don't skip or add any steps) and then Roxio SP4.

If the MS .net update is listed under Programs and Updates in the Control Panel then you could remove the update then let Roxio 2009 and SP4 do the job. However, do the clean install procedure.

Before you go through the "clean install" for the tenth time try this.

Edit the shortcut to run in compatability mode for XP (SP2) and to run as administrator.

After everything else I tried I was shocked that this worked for me.
