Question

I usually add my transition to my projects as a whole and go over each one and edit or change it as needed. If I try to add or change a transition the window comes up empty with nothing to pick from. I have used many transitions in the past (V7.5, 9 , and 10 and I am very familiar with how to use them. I did have a problem with 7.5 crashing when I tried to change transitions but v 9 was fine. At this point this program is useless to me. I have downloaded sp4 and have removed and reinstalled the program but nothing seems to work. I emailed and called customer support, but they were not much help. Any ideas?

In Video Wave, open the transitions, make sure you have selected all. How many do you see? If your video card is not up to date or it is not powerful enough for the program, you do not see the 3D transitions and many others. Update the drivers for your video card and also DirectX 9 © (for XP).

Thats the screen I get in all. I reinstalled v10 and all of this works fine 3d and all.

You are probably drawing the wrong conclusion…

The 3D Effects will not show if Software Render is selected.

When you installed EMC 10 it defaults to Hardware Render so they show and you falsely concluded that they weren’t there in 2009.

Go into 2009 and change it in VW: Tools – Options – Render. Leave the Effect Selector up and set to 3D and watch them appear and disappear as you switch from Software to Hardware.

I tried this and the only thing I could see change was I did not have "random" as a choice. I can add transitions but I can’t edit them. The window has no transitions and shows "there are no items to show in this view". I usually select random and then edit each transition for content and time. What is weird is the transitions are there, but not visible in that window. I have been selecting all in the transition selection box. When I choose add a transition I get the same result.

Yes, you said that once. Open Video Wave and go to the top menu, select tools, options and run the test. Where is the dot after the test.

Please post your computer specs.

After the test, either the Hardware or the Software option should be selected

I did change it and there was no difference. I think something went wrong with the down load. It took a really long time (2hrs). I did re download it and it only took a couple of minutes. I dont think it actually re owndoaded

What download are you talking about? The SP4 download? It is over 50 MB, and I am jealous, if you can download it in 2 minutes? :)

That was my point I don’t think it re-downloaded. I think it saw the existing files and ignored the download. I will have to remove them before I re-download again.

Well, there is a pretty easy way of telling whether or not it downloaded. Look at the location to where you told it to download. Don't ever tell a download to install, after it download. It begs trouble. Always, if you have the choice, download it to a folder, and install it, yourself.

What file are you trying to download? It takes me about 2 minutes to download a 50Mb file on my DLS connection. So if you are on DSL or similar then its about right. I don't think a download will look at an existing file and ignore the download without giving you an option.
