8004520c error - read other forums - no help

Question

Hi all-

I've been using Creator 2009 for a few months now, and started getting the 8004520c "Error While Encoding" message. I usually create video files first, then create menus and burn a DVD. First I tried different files, thinking some were corrupt. No good - I get the message regardless of what file I use. Then I tried converting an MPG to different formats - AVI, WMV, etc. - still no good. Then I read through other postings on this topic. Suggestions were made to defrag. That did not help. The knowledge base on http://kb.roxio.com suggested to burn the project as a data file first, either as an .ISO file or Video_TS folder. Tried that, still get the error. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestions. To reply: I downloaded Service Pack 4, but I get the following during installation: "Cannot delete target file C:\\Program Files\Roxio\Creator Ultimate 2009\5.0\Filters\SonicHDDemuxer.dll" - apologies if not spelled right. Also re: Imageburn, all I could find was something called "Imgbrn". But that seems to function by using VIDEO_TS folders, while I create video files (MPG), and make a DVD using those. I tried VideoWave to create an MPG, and that worked fine. (I have three video editors - VideoWave, Studio 10, and Womble Video Wizard.) Have not yet updated firmware/video driver, or switched render mode.

When you burn a DVD you create a Video_TS folder (look at a DVD using Windows Explorer). What was suggested that you first create the Video_TS folder on your hard drive and then use ImgBurn to burn the Video_TS folder to a DVD.

Your problem is with the installation of Creator 2009. Perhaps at this point the Clean Uninstall/Reinstall is required

Did you apply Creator 2009 SP4?

Creator 2009 sp4

http://www.roxio.com/REGISTRATION/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fregistration%2fmyaccount%2fDownloads.aspx%3fdownload_id%3d166&download_id=166

Download Imageburn (it's free) and see if it will burn a DVD.

Suggestions: update the following: CD/DVD drive firmware, video driver and Directx, don't use cheap media

Your post is not that clear on when you are getting that error message>

I assume that are are creating your initial video files in Videowave? Do you get an error when you output to mpg? Or are you only getting the error when in myDVD?

Have you tried to switch the render mode under Tools/Options?
