Hook USB Device directly to MAC

Judboy

Question

The instructions state that you should hook the Roxio device directly to the MAC and not to a keyboard port. I thought the new Aluminum iMac's USB ports on the keyboard where the same as hooking into the MAC directly. Elgato does not seem to state this on their products. Is this done for a reason (like to avoid dropped frames)? I was just curious why the instructions really stressed a USB 2.0 port directly on the MAC itself. Thanks.

Yes. You can however try hooking it up any way you want. If it doesn't work, then change it. ;)

While we didn't see any specific issues when using USB 2.0 ports, as mentioned above some of the older keyboards are not USB 2.0.
