How do I record from a mono DVD player

George123

Question

The USB adapter has a plug for right and left channels, but my VHS player only has one outlet for audio. How do I connect? Will the playback on DVD come from both right and left speakers?

Oops. I should have said, "How do I record from a mono VHS player to a DVD".

Good grief! Roxio (note the spelling) has no clue what VCR you have! Try what Jim suggested.

Additionally, most stereo audio input/output defaults to the left channel for mono. *Most* ;) I simple trick is "red is right, left is white"

Oops!!! I thought it was the other way, a sailor named Red… and all that

George, go with what Jon suggests!

TRY this and see what you think – Remember DVD RW is your Learning Curve Buddy :D

Plug the Audio from your VHS Output into the Red (or Right) receptacle of the Roxio Device.

Capture a short clip and burn it to DVD RW and play it.

Plan B, should that fail, go to Radio Shack and ask about a Y adapter that has a male RCA plug (for your VCR) and splits it to a Red & White male RCA output (for your Roxio Device).

Thanks, Jim. This program sure isn't user friendly. I'm trying to copy some of my old VCR's so I think the splitter may be the way to go to get audio to come out of both speakers when played back on a newer DVD player. You would think that ROXEO would have said something about that. Most older VCR players, like mine, never dreamed of stereo! At this point, I'm glad that I didn't waste my money of the complete ROXEO program!
