jgkane
I can toggle the mute button. I see the red line appearing and disappearing again. I connected the rca lines into all the jacks on the vcr however, the unit is clearly marked with 'video out'. I'm getting no chirps or meter fluctuations at all. So, I'm wondering if there is a conflict. In my Sound Prefs pull down option, I see 'USB Audio CODEC' as well as 'Line In'. I don't know what that is but I will let you know when I figure it out. Perhaps that's what Easy VHS inserted?
cdanteek
judy65807, doesn't have a Mac, you 'jgkane' do correct? cd
jgkane
Correct, I have a 2 ghz Intel Mac mini running OSx 10.5.7. I noticed 'JeffAB' said that he pulled out the USB capture device and reconnected and that this worked (temporarily). Yep, that did it. Take the capture device out for a second after launching program and plug it back in. Got full clear sound with green lights half way across the meter. (Thanks to that JeffAB guy in the other forum who is suffering with dropped frames).

jgkane
I'm assuming you have audio connected via the red and white RCA connectors? On the Capture Audio screen, are the audio meters moving? Do you hear sound? [sorry, if I'm butting in here...] I have the red & white connectors matched up correctly. The meter is not registering anything at all. Someone mentioned that this might be a USB issue. I thought that the ports on the back of this Mac mini were all 2.0.

Does anyone understand the difference? cd That is the problem of butting into other peoples thread… The OP, Judy65807 does not have a MAC and posted in the wrong area. Then jgkane butts into her thread with me too and gets a couple of responses before Judy gets back and reports she doesn’t have a MAC. Someone then moved the whole Topic over to here… It has become so intertwined I think the whole thing should be closed out before more come tumbling in

I know you've double-checked everything but the mistake I usually make is connecting the audio out cables to the input jacks on the VCR or Receiver rather than the output jacks. Can you toggle the mute audio on and off, it's the button at the top left of the preview window, when mute is enabled you see a line through. As for Mac Mini, all Mac Mini systems ship with USB 2.0 ports AFAIK since they were announced and I still have my trusty 1.66 GHz mini here beside me. I know you've double-checked everything but the mistake I usually make is connecting the audio out cables to the input jacks on the VCR or Receiver rather than the output jacks. Assuming, though, that you did correctly connect the cables to the source device, go to the Sound panel in System Preferences and check that the Roxio device is set as the audio input rather than Line in or Microphone. The device doesn't appear under System Prefs, thus no need to play with settings.
jgkane
Hmm, yes me too. I have checked the connections. I can get video from VCR and a 8mm camcorder but no sound. I looked in system prefs to look at the input and output modes but it doesn't seem to help. (Mac mini 2ghz/2 gigs RAM/OS x 10.5.7)

I tried capturing from an old VHS and the line barely moved above the first green bars. Any way of increasing the audio input from the program? On the Capture Audio screen, are the audio meters moving? Do you hear sound?I do not have a mac and posted in the wrong place the first time and then was "pinned" whatever that means. Anyway I hear a "chirping" sound. The connectors are on audio out. Nothing wrong with my usb ports, the mute is off, the green sound bars are at about 1/4 of the way up. I am Vista.
