umbilical
Toast does not have any MP3 encoder. Other than uncompressed WAV and AIFF Toast can compress to FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, AAC and Apple Lossless. Your FLAC audio is uncompressed when making an audio CD without going through any other processing, so it will be lossless compared to the source files. Roxio used to sell a Mac application called Jam that was for making Red Book standard audio CDs. Toast 10 has much of the workings from that Jam application so that it also meets the Red Book standard. Thanks, so I now have peace of mind that I dont loose quality! tsantee
I'm not an expert about this, but I believe there is no quality lost when converting the FLAC to an audio CD using Toast. Toast uses QuickTime to convert to uncompressed 16-bit, 44.1 khz, 2-channel audio for the audio CD.
