Burning a Slideshow

band_dude_23

Question

When I try to burn a DVD I've created (including a slideshow and a movie), the burning stalls at the "Recording Slideshow" step. I have tried deleting the slideshow and recording only the movie and that worked. Deleting the movie and attempting to burn only the slideshow does not work. Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestions. I was able to figure out how to fix it. I located the pictures that were causing the problem. I had 16 photos in a row that had text added to them. I deleted these photos from the project and then I opened each photo individually in Adobe Photoshop PS3 and added text there. After saving each of the 16 pictures as a .JPG, I was able to put them into the slideshow and burn the DVD. Thanks again!

An aside, here:

Never use Fit to Disc. Use HQ (High Quality) when you burn, and as Walt suggested, burn to a Folder Set. Then burn the resultant Folder Set to a DVD, using Video copy and Convert.

If you created the slideshow in Videowave (which is the recommended program), you could output to a mpeg, DVD quality file. If it hangs while rendering the slideshow it may show wehere the problem is.

A bit more information would help. How are you creating the slideshow, what transitions, etc are you using? Do you get any error messages?

I'm using Roxio Creator 2009 with "MyDVD." I have blank slides with text added for title slides. I just recently narrowed down the failing slides to the first 50 that I used. In these 50, there are pictures taken from several different cameras (I'm still trying to narrow it down further by taking out pictures in a binary search). I'm not sure what transitions I used but I have the timing set to "Fit to Audio." I'm either using "Video CD High Resolution" (or something like that) or "dissolve." It encodes the slideshow but when it gets to recording the slideshow, it stops at 1% (46% overall).

Do not assemble your slideshow in myDVD, use the program call Videowave (Edit advanced on the Home page). It could well be one of the pictures taken from one of the cameras - not all cameras use the same format.

You also might try to "burn" to a folder set or iso image file and later burn those files.

Did you add the text to the photos in Creator 2009? I allways add text ( and motion to the text) in Videowave to my photos and have never had a problem. Where the photos in jpg format originally? All from the same camera?

I'm still novice with all of this; I think I was using Videowave. Maybe Videowave 11 or something. The 16 problem photos were in jpg originally and from the same camera.

Yes, Videowave 11 is part Roxio Creator 2009. I use it all the time for adding text to my photos. What make/model of camera are the pics from? Certain cameras add some data to the jpg headers that create problems for some programs. Did the problem only happen after you added the text in Videowave?

You can also use Photosuite (from Creator 2009) to add text to photos.

I don't remember what the camera type was; I took the pictures last summer and lost the camera shortly after. It may have been some sort of Cannon. I believe that the problem happened only after adding text to those pictures. I was able to burn the DVD completely after replacing them with the photoshop jpg pictures.
