Hitch
HI! Have deleted pictures from a production, but the panels still remain and when played play as black screen. How do you delete an unused panel from the production? Hitch
Hitch
How long in time is your project? A standard 4.7GB DVD will only hold 60 minutes of video (more at reduced quality) and a DL DVD less then 2 hours. Of course you need a DL burner for DLs. On a 60 minute disc that will only allow 7 secs per photo. If you add videos then it will be even less. What are you using to create your slideshow? Hopefully its Videowave to assemble the show, add audio, transitions, etc. If you are using any of the Slideshow wizards you may be running into problems. Several users have reported black screens or skipped photos when using the wizards. Another possibility is the render mode: under Tools/options switch to Software mode if now at Hardware or vice versa. Another possibility are transitions not being compatible with your video card. What are your system specs especially video card? Exactly at what stage do you get the problems? At one point you say "when I try to burn a disc" and then you say "I've never tried to burn a disc". Have you tried to burn to a Video_TS folder or iso file? How long in time is your project? Have you tried to burn to a Video_TS folder or iso file? My project is 1 hr. 30 min. long. Yes, I have an LG DVD player which can handle the larger size Double Layer discs. Yes, I am using Videowave! Yes, under Tools/option I have switched to the software mode. When I try to burn, it doesn't get past the decoding stage. That's what I meant. It only encodes about 50% and then the screen goes black and skips pictures. That's why I never completed the task because it didn't encode the whole production correctly. It plays perfectly on my computer though. I was told by Roxio it could be lack of RAM so we bought more RAM and my husband installed it. Still the same problem! I have updated firmware too. Now I'm told it could be my video card. My card is older -- it is a 128 MB DDR NVidia GEForce FX 5200 graphics card. Perhaps this is the problem. Roxio told me to try cutting and pasting only half of the production and trying to burn that way. That seems like an awful lot of work as I have about 500 pix (some short videos; and still pictures with audio). I have been trying to solve this problem since Jan. I want to burn a disc to send to my kids. Any ideas? Hitch

Do you know when the last time you updated the drivers for your video card? You should check the Nvidia site and update to the latest.
Jim_Hardin
The setting Larry is refering to is in VW or MyDVD under Tools - Options - Render. And what about the order of the Steps you are taking??? If you make a Project in MyDVD then go back into VideoWave and do a lot of changes, those changes will never be recognized by MyDVD! I call it a flaw but the workaround is easy – delete the old MyDVD Project and make a new one.

How do you delete an unused panel from the production? Hitch When you delete a photo, if you don't tell it to delete the transition too, you will get a blank panel. You then have to move all of your pictures, to fill that blank.

Actually your video card should be allright, I was using the same one for years without problems until it failed. I would suggest output to a DVD quality video instead of burning directly to disc.( saves a few coasters). This would tell you at what stage in the encoding the problem occurs. You could also "burn" to Video_TS folder or an iso image file and the use Video COpy & COnvert to burn the folder or iso file to a DVD.

Also, when I try to burn a dvd, it only will decode to 50% and then the decoding screen goes "black". It skips pictures; then it will show some pictures, skips again etc. etc. The screen just goes black so I've never tried to burn a disc because it does not decode correctly. Have updated everything! Even got more ram, 8.5 gb discs (it's a big program with over 500 pictures, shore videos, etc.) and I have been trying to make a dvd of our adventures in Africa for three months. Nothing works. Any suggestions??? Thanks. Hitch
