.AVI Files & DVD Builder

ispperformance

Question

I was trying to burn a bunch of .AVI clips to a DVD which are about 178mb each. I added 9 of them to my DVD project and noticed that I was over my 4.7gb limit? I removed all files but one, the file is 178mb when I check it's properties through windows, but when added in DVD builder it is 1771mb? Any reasons as to why this happens?

Yes and no. The size of the file is meaningless. It is the length of time of the video file that controls. You can figure to get 1 hour of video, at best quality, on a standard 4.7GB DVD.

The .AVI file is not DVD video compliant, so it has to be encoded to be compliant. The size on the disc will therefore change from the size of the .avi file.
