Problems Finalising a DVD

Limbo

Question

Here's the scenario ...

I'd recorded several TV programmes onto a DVD-RAM using my Panasonic DVD Recorder (DMR-EZ25) and I was attempting to copy the entire contents of this disc onto a DVD+R to free up the RAM disc.

Using EMC 10 LJ (which shipped with my new Vaio) I successfully 'Copied' the RAM disc onto the DVD+R (albeit the 3 programmes are now 1 split into chapters, but I can live with that).

Now, (whether this is relevant or not) the DVD+R contains a root file folder 'DVD_RTAV' containing 3 files 'VR_MANGR.BUP' (45KB); 'VR_MNGR.IFO' (45KB) and 'VR_MOVIE.VRO' (1.75GB). The disk plays okay on my laptop using InterVideo WinDVD (which also shipped with the Vaio).

The problem is that EMC will not allow me to finalise the disc (I'd like to view it on a TV/DVD player setup).

I see other forum members have had the 'Please insert an appendable data disc that is ... DVD write-once media' but I couldn't determine an answer.

Any help/pointers would be appreciated.

The DVD-RAM discs are by Panasonic.

As I've said, the copying process (from the DVD-RAM disc to the DVD+R) appears to have worked fine and I can view the content on my PC DVD player.

It's the finalisation that's the problem - are you aware of any known issues with the version I'm using (10LJ)? I know that it's a Sony tweaked version of EMC and could have shortcomings?!

Thanks

What don’t you understand about this???

You can’t copy a RAM disc to another type of DVD media…

I outlined the procedures.

Okay ... for the third time in this thread ... I successfully copied a DVD-RAM disc to a DVD+R. Either you are right/wrong and/or I'm a worker of miracles.

Take one DVD-RAM Disc and shove it in the optical drive.

Fire up Easy Media Creator and choose the 'Copy' option - sit back and wait for the job done message. Success.

Insert a DVD+R disc .... burn. Success

Finalise disc - no way!

Play DVD+R using onboard DVD player software - yes, it's playing the files copied from the RAM disc.

Attempt once more to finalise - brick wall.

Look for solution on this Forum - brick wall.

I've no idea/interest in VCC etc - I would just like this software to do what it says on the tin. If Easy Media Creator can't do it just let me know and I'll uninstall it and give Nero a shot.

Limbo,

You've managed to take a DVD-Ram VR disc and copy it to a DVD+R just like your DVD-Ram VR disc, right (won't play)?

Using EMC 10 LJ

I have never heard of a LJ version. Did you buy a Retail version or did it come with a Drive or the PC?

That version might not have Video Copy and Convert.

Video Copy and Convert, might let you choose the video and author (key word author) those files into a compliant DVD video structure that will be finalized and play in your settop DVD player.

Before you post more brick wall, read this.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-VR
