Please help ASAP-adding chapters

Sandie01

Question

Hi

I am going round and round trying to add chapters, every time I go into manually selecting them it tells me I cannot add a chapter within first 5 seconds of frame.

I have tried to add a chapter anywhere, I becoming frustrated as thought I had mastered the creator 2009 straight away.

Any help would be very much appreicated

Sandie

Tell us step by step how you are creating chapters. Leave nothing out. What application, etc.

Re: Creator 2009

I goto edit movie in my dvd.

Then Edit chapter

I press green arrow to play movie and then stop it where I want to place a chapter, I then press on the add chapter.

When I do this it gives me the message that I cannot add a chapter within first 5 seconds of frame

That error message is pretty clear on what it means

You cannot have a chapter within 5 seconds of the first frame (and last frame) withing 5 secs of another chapter mark.

Why would you want chapters withing 5 seconds of the movie start or within 5 seconds of another chapter ?

I want chapters at the start of every new video clip, ie school play then it moves onto our holidays, therefore on my menu I would have thought then I can see what each chapter contains and goto straight to the one I want if I needed to do this. (ie miss out seeing the school play but go straight to the holiday)

At the moment there are no chapters - maybe I misunderstanding what chapters actually mean here.

Thankyou for trying to help, however this is making no sense

ok I have now managed to add chapters but unfortuately not to my first section of the video.

Anyway how do I now show these chapters in my front menu?

THank you for your help, once there I will be sailing

I think you are confusing chapter with titles.

How have you added your video clips to your project?

If you add a video clip it becomes a Title on the menu page. If you click this Title you can then select Edit Chapters to create chapters for that title. This is exactly how commercial DVDs also are setup.

You can also add video clips so that they become one continuous movie which will show up as one Title on the menu page. You can then create chapter marks for each clip.

Which of these processes are you doing?

Gosh and I thought this was simple, now not so sure.

After much fiddling about I have managed to now add the chapters and show then on the front page.

Thank you so much for your help

Again, if they are on the front (main Menu) page, they are not chapter but are called Titles.. It helps if you use the correct terminology to avoid confusion.
