Installation Problem with Vista 64

neil154

Question

Are there any issues with installing Roxio Creator 2009 on a Vista 64 system?

I had the software installed on my XP Pro sysytem with no problems. I got a new PC with Vista 64 Home Premium and I can't seem to install the software. I go thru the install process and it seems to succeed but when I run it I only can run the main application, I don't have the choice to run any of the other appications like the Classic Creator. Also when I run the main application and try to check for updates I get a message that it can not run properly.

Thanks, would appreciate your advice.

Thanks for trying to fix my problem. I don't understand the problem but I borrowed a friends copy of Roxio and installed it with my serial number and it worked fine. I would say that my CD was damaged except that the CD worked fine on my XP Pro machine.

Thanks for the help.

Different revision levels can work differently on different PCs. The software manufacturing process can produce multiple revisions of the same software during the life cycle of the manufacturing run for a particular product. I have two different retail EMC 9 revisions. Both were purchased at the same store but at different times. I suspect that your friend's CD is a different revision level.

Thanks, I am downloading sp4 now but when I went into the help-about I did not see any update information onversion numbers for the various programs. I will give sp4 a try and let you know if it solved my problem.

I tried running SP4 and I got a message that Roxio 2009 could not be located on my system and I should reinstall.

I would appreciate any suggestions. As I stated earlier, I have Roxio 2009 installed on my old laptop and it runs fine. I used the same CD to install on the new laptop and it does not seem to be able to properly install. Obviously it is installing something because I can start the main ap of Roxio 2009 but I have not tried using it since I am skeptical of using it since it did not install properly.

If you have some suggestions I would appreciate it. If no suggestions then is there a way to completely wipe out the current Roxio instaion (beyond just add/remove) so that I can try a new fresh install?

Thank yo.

I did the clean unistall/reinstall and it completed successfully. I then open Creator 2009 and I was able to check for updates and it found that I needed a December Update. After I installed the update and rebooted I then checked for updates and was told I was up to date. The problem is that when I look at the start menu it shows Roxio Creator 2009 (folder) and then below that it shows Roxio Creator 2009 (program to start) and also shows Applications. The only applications that show below that is BackOnTrack Home and CinePlayer and no others. If I open Roxio 2009 I also don't see any data copy advanced. I tried running the sp4 application and again I got the messgae Roxio 2009 could not be located on your system (Roxio creator 2009 does show in the add/remove).

I would love to have sime suggestions.
