Install question - trying to get in front of problems

Danube

Question

Hello. I'm interested in purchasing/using Easy VHS to DVD.

I have Vista Home Premium SP1 32 bit. DirectX 10. Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1. EMC V9 (NOT 2009). and my video device is NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE.

It's my understanding that Easy VHS to DVD works with EMC V9. Is this correct? EMC V9 came preinstalled, so I don't have disks. Uninstalling and reinstalling EMC V9 isn't an option for me. Also, if it matters, I'm not certain if I have the full version of EMC V9 or not. In 'control panel', 'add remove programs' it's listed as Roxio Creator Basic v9 and Roxio MyDVD Basic v9 (along with other Roxio Creator programs). It's the word 'Basic' that has me questioning whether or not it's the full version.

I have other video editing software installed, Windows Movie Maker V6 SP1, muvee auto Producer 5.0, and Pinnacle Studio V10. I've only used Pinnacle Studio for my digital capturing and editing. The other software was preinstalled.

Any compatibility concerns with my level of .NET, DirectX, or video device?

Any compatibility concerns with having Pinnacle Studio V10 installed (or the other movie editing software)?

Thank you for your help and time.

Jim,

I don't have a Blue-ray player, so right now V2D seems to be a better fit.

I normally delete all the crud that comes on a new computer, but for whaterver reason I wanted to keep the video editing stuff. With HDD getting larger and cheaper, to me it's not as much of a concern as it used to be.

Thanks for replying to my post.

No worries mate… (I have an honorary citizenship at Outback Steakhouses :D )

V2D lacks any DATA burning tools so your V9 Basic may prove a nice compliment.

No conflicts with video programs but I think you will find that V2D equals or exceeds all the other programs you list… Of course there are always some features in others that the one you are using lack…. WMM produces better Scrolling Credits but overall, are you learn all the features of VideoWave and MyDVD you will find yourself using those programs less and less.

One other opinion of mine, OEM software should be uninstalled/deleted on sight! It is junkware and just takes up useful HDD space.

One other thought – if you a planning on moving into Blu-ray soon go for the Creator 2009 Ultimate (BD plug-in included) and buy the Roxio Video Capture USB device separately. It costs more initially, but upgrading later costs even more!

With the large HDD’s it is easier to ignore until the OEM junkware rises up and bites

You can’t go wrong with V2D for what you described. Once installed you can upgrade later and the device drivers are not specific to Roxio, meaning you can probably use the device with other software.
