cannot type menu titles

rondo4

Question

In MyDVD Express, I choose select menu style. At least half of the menu styles will not let me type in text. I get a white, or gray bar without the words "your title here" Also when I add a video these menu types will show bars instead of the video title. Can't type test in these either. In MyDvd, I can work around the problem by right clicking on the bar, use settings, and type text. But there are no vidio clips titles or bars I can customize.

Is this a driver, or graphics card problem or what?

It appears to be a driver or graphics card or what problem

How about listing your system specs, especially video card or graphics adaptor.

Thanks for responding. But, I've been using computers since '95 and always relied on IT guys for help. Please bear with me because of my ignorance on the technical side of my computer.

Here's what I know: I own a 2002 Dell 8300 Series, P4, 2.6GHZ/800FSB .INT AU (That's right off the invoice)

My driver is NVIDEA GE Force4 MX44 with AGP8X

Best Buy just added 512MB of memory so Roxio Creator would stop freezing up let me get into all the applications. But, I still have the texting problem.

If you tell me where I can look to find out info on the graphics card, please use laymens terms. Make that How I can locate info about the graphics/video card.

Go to the NVIDIA site and download the latest driver for your video card. www.nvidia.com On the download page for your card type you will also see a link to Microsoft to download the latest Directx update. You should make sure that Directx on your system is up-to-date.

You do have an older system that is considered low end by today's standards. You may want to consider a replacement.

Your video card is causing the freeze. You need to upgrade to a newer AGP video card. There are still some being made, and ATI has a few good ones.

Before going that far, in MyDVD, click on Tools/Options, and click in the circle to the left of Software, under Render With.

You are a genius. Today I remembered your advice and it worked. I clicked on software and now I am able to see all the text and I can type text.

Best Buy seems to disagree with buying a new video card. They added more memory and now it doesn't freeze up.

But, thanks for the help, grandpabruce.

Downloading the new driver was the first thing I did. It solved the problem but caused others. The tech at nvidea told me that the new driver will not support Roxio Creator 2009. He suggested getting a new video card.

I agree with you. I need a new PC. But with 2 daughters getting married this year, a new PC has to wait. My wife and I are thinking of applying for bailout money.

Thanks for your help.

You're welcome, but the guy at Best Buy, doesn't have a clue in hell about editing video, with this software. Your video card is ancient, but if it works for you now, that is all that counts.

And, I also agree that you need some bailout money. LOL. May the "Force" be with you. :)
