back up files to cd

swellmel

Question

My new Creator 2009 finally installed and i chose a few valuable

Excel files to back up to a cd. It worked fine. I even opened the cd and saw the files I had backed up.

Question: These files change monthly (loan payments) and I want to backup monthly. If I use the same cd as previously written to, will it backup the files again or will it only backup the files that have changes made to them.

(The ideal for me would be to only record the changes in the files. (overwrite the saved files just to show the changes)

These are important files only only use a small part of the cd that I write to. Thanks for any help and suggestions for a better way to accomplish this..

Cds are about $0.10 each. I would use Creator Classic to burn those important files to a CD, and you can either add them to the same CD, until that CD is filled up, or you can burn a new CD.

To be able to add data, to the same disc, when you go to burn, uncheck the box to the left of Read Only. You will be able to add data, at a later date.

And, to answer your question, if you used Creator Classic, when you burned the Excel files, then it will backup all of the files again.

In my opinion, I wouldn't be using CD or DVD discs to make the backup copies. I would either use a second hard drive (external maybe), or better yet get a USB jump drive. They are inexpensive, larger than CD's, and you can read and write files to them just like your hard drive very quickly. Much more efficient than messing around with discs.
