Do you have Creator 2009 or Easy Media Creator 9 or something like Creator 9DE (Dell Edition)?

Where did you get the software? Easy Media Creator 9 is about 2 years old; the DE designation means that it is a OEM version. If you bought it off e-bay or similar or from a private seller, have them refund your money or to give you a key that works. If you bought it locally from a store, take it back. Most stores will take back a piece of software if it doesn't work. I even got Fry's to take back a piece of software when I showed them a screen shot of the error message. If you bought an OEM version, you may be out of luck because some of them were designed to work only on the computer where it was originally loaded.

Feel free to buy anything you like since this is a users group and not Roxio customer service. Too bad because this is one of the best products (in this proce range) out there. I'm surprised that someone from Roxio would recommend EMC 10 because that is also an older version. They would have recommended Creator 2009 !

Hi thanks for that. Yes its Easy Media Creator9 Suite, bought from PC World - fully boxed etc. It worked once I bought it, but now trying to load it on my new Vista based PC I get the error. Thats what's strange. It worked fine before. Great product but I just cant get it to load. Concerned that if I buy another Roxio product I will get the same result hence why to try another make. Agree its great software - but I cant use it!

Are you having trouble installing or in the activation?

If installation, did you update to 9.1?

If activation, did you try the manual activation?

If you tried both, you may want to do a clean install making sure that you follow all the directions and including making sure your anti-virus program is turned off, not just paused.

V9 had drag to disc, V9.1 does not because Vista has a built in packet writing program. You will also lose the back up software.

Install - from scratch. So, I cant update to 9.1 as I need to have 9 installed for the update to work. I have tried the CD on 2 machines now, one Vista, on XP home, and same thing - invalid KEY. (I am using the printed key on the disc cover) Are the disks date dependant? Would changing the PC date help? There must be something the CD does first before the key entry as this disk worked fine last year.

In most cases, the date needs to be correct but you can try to turn the time back. When you first got the software did you register it. Check your account to see if the key your are using is the same as the one that you registered.

Again my advice at this point is to use the clean install to get rid of any and all Roxio programs/applications/fragments on your computer. Don't skip any steps or add any. Try again from the safe mode with anti-virus off.
