Easy VHS to DVD for Window XP

LindaY

Question

Following the instructions... by plugging in the capture device, then inserting the installation disc, the driver does not read the disc. Other cd's are read, but this one will not open on the Windows XP. Was this vhs to dvd invented just for Windows Vista? I ordered this because it stated it was Windows XP compatible. I have Windows XP Media center edition SP3

I have plenty of memory 46GB on this computer, and 1GB of ram.

After inserting the disc and waiting, it does not autorun. So, I clicked on the cd driver to open the file but I get a message: please insert a disc into drive d. Auto run is set to start when disc is inserted.

What gives with this? Why isn't this cd being read by my computer?

What is V2D on DVD?

Yes, the PC has a dvd and cd drive. It says I have:

DVD/CD-ROM drives

HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GWA4164B

SONY CD-RW CRX217E

opening up the properties of the DVD drive it's details say:

IDE\CDROMHL-DT-ST_DVD+RW_GWA416B____________E113

the details of the CDdrive:

IDE\CDROMSONY_CD-RW_CRX217E____________1DS2

I don't know if you needed that details info but I sent it just in case it means something to you.

Easy VHS to DVD ....

Are you putting the installation disc in the SONY CD-RW CRX217E? Don't it won't read the disc...

Put it in the HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GWA4164B drive, it should read the installation disc...

Yes, drive is the correct word...thank you.

I've followed your recommendation above, which does not work. The cd drive does not recognize a disc even being present and no files appear in the drive window to even point to a setup command. The pop up message is still "please insert disk into drive D".

This works in my laptop which is Windows Vista; but I purchased this to use on my desktop which is Windows XP Media Center SP 3. I do not have a dvd read/writer on the laptop, only a cd read/writer.

When inserting the disk into the laptop I see all the files on the disk; but those same files are not appearing on the cd drive on the desktop.

Now what?

Watch you English a little closer, your post is confusing when you use driver instead of drive  Drive is hardware whereas Driver is software.

Autorun is hit & miss and always has been…

First and foremost – when you plug in the Device, cancel the Windows hardware wizard!!! Then insert the disc.

I then use Start – Run – Browse and point it to the “setup.exe” file on the disc:

It should go from there without a hitch.

Please give that a try and let us know how it works out for you. :D
