Install Failure on Roxio creator 2009

John-Ottawa

Question

Purchased and treing to install creator 2009 on my HP laptop - Windows Vista Home Premium.

Cannot get the setup program to run.

Error message is Setup encountered an error during installation - Error Code: 000D

I have tried boot and install from safe mode, disabled virus scan and firewall, copying disk to laptop hard drive, always the same result.

The laptop has never had any roxio product installed on it.

Any suggestions?

You might try a clean install and then follow that up with SP4

Clean install instructions for Creator 2009 on Windows Vista

Creator 2009 sp4

If you notice my signature, I have a HP Laptop with VISTA and Creator 2009.

I feel like an idiot!

O.K.

Problem solved.

I followed the instructions, downloaded the clean-up tool, installed it (or tried to) and it failed – complained about a missing E: drive.

Then it hit me.

I bought the HP laptop because it has an esata connector and allows me to sync my documents from my EHD to main computer, then take with me and have the whole deal. BUT I didn’t have it connected.

Connected it, ran the clean up install, checked and nothing - the install had never run.

The ran the desktop copy of the Roxio install as administrator – just in case – started immediately. Previously every install would crank away for 5 minutes, then fail with the 000D message.

IDIOT

I never thought the install would look at/need my My Documents drive up and running.

Thanks Dave, now to check it out!
