I used to use MyDVD to edit my cam movies in XP...now I got Vista so it no longer worked...kinda pisser that they gave out MyDVD version when Vista was already released...but anyway, I D/L'ed MyDVD 10 premier and paid $70 USD. I try to install it, and it tells me I can't install it unless I have Easy Media Creator...which is ANOTHER $100...??? When I first downloaded this program, I never had to download the updates; now It seems I have to... When I download the program, even from the "Backup" disc I ordered, it comes up with "cannot install EMC content without program first"... so I ahve to download the program update (712 MB) first??? gi7omy Posted July 19, 2009 Report Share Posted July 19, 2009 When you did the original download there were TWO files - onr program and one content. If you downloaded only 'content' then it will tell you you have to install the program first. That's in the other file The update was only to address a specific problem and, if you didn't have that, then you don't need the update. Thanks for ANY help!!! Until you have installed the Program you cannot install the Contents. Obviously updates don't even matter at this point if you haven't installed the main program. So did you download 2 programs from the Roxio site? What are the file names? One is the Program file and the other is the Contents file. Did you install the Program file yet? BTW, you do not download froma disc,you install from the disc. Download generally refers to transferring files from a website to your computer. I downloaded it from the link they gave me and I bought the backup disc. Everything worked fine, and I was able to use ALL features. NOW when I go to re-install the program, I get to the end and it says "cannot install content without first installing EMC" And then it rolls back the installations. It only installs some basic program. I just tried downloading the MYDVD 10.1 upgrade, but when I ran the program, it came up not with EMC, (where I can make DVD menus and copys discs, etc.) but with the SAME BASIC disc program, not the one that I can make DVD menus and copy discs. I am currently downloading the SECOND upgrade "Content." Am I doing something wrong??? It's like when I try to download the program again from Roxio's link, and off the back-up disc, it is NOT installing EMC... just the content, which it WONT install before the actuall program is installed, which it is NOT installing... UGH. Roxio MyDVD 10 Premier is a cut-down version of the full retail EMC 10 and most likely cannot be upgraded or updated. The updates apply only to the full version. I bought the program, and purchased the extended down thingy. When I install the program, it has EMC content, but not the actual program on it. Where is the actual program? sknis Posted July 20, 2009 Report Share Posted July 20, 2009 Just for informational purposes. MyDVD 10 Premier is one step below Creator 2009. It does not have the audio nor the back up applications but it does include Video Wave, My DVD and Video Copy and Convert. It is a current product and should be available on the extended download page. (Also make a copy of the download next time). You may be able to find something about the extended download on this page. When did you buy MyDVD 10? The extended download is good for only 2 years.
