burned DVD won't play in DVD players

benne

Question

Created slide shows using My DVD Buddy. When I used Roxio 10 update Menu background was black. Reloaded program from disc backgrounds works. Burned DVD, can view it on computer but it won't load in DVD players. Tried 2 different ones. Never had this problem with roxio 7. Any suggestions?

Sorry, I should have thought to include video card info. I have a Nivida 7300 GT card with 512 of RAM on board. The movie I copied to hard drive was non-copywrited. I just copied the Video and Audio folders to my harddrive. Used the Roxio Video Copy and Convert progam to burn it to a DVD. It worked fine. The projects I've been creating are basically slide shows of pictures I've taken on vacations adding transitions, panning and music. I had done loads of them on Roxio EMC 7.5 which I think called the program My DVD Buddy. I had no problems. I just don't get why EMC 10 is not producing DVD that work on the same DVD players I had used before.

If you clicked on Create Slide Show, in EMC 7.5, Version 6...... of the junk Sonic MyDVD program opened. It was not called MyDVD Buddy. It was called MyDVD.

The non-junk program, for burning slide shows, that you made in VideoWave, was/is called DVD Builder.

Don't really know where I got the DVD Buddy name buy my current problem is with MyDVD. I created the whole project slide show, transitions, pan and zoom, using MyDVD in EMC 10. Videowave looks very similar minus the menu and menu styles. I think I'll try creating the slide show in Videowave, then import into MyDVD and see if the burned copy works when played on either of my DVD players. I'm also going to try to borrow a couple Verbatim blanks to try, but don't understand why EMC 10 is giving me trouble when I didn't have any trouble when creating these kind of projects uning EMC 7.5 and DVD Builder.

Give it a shot using VideoWave, and let us know if it does work. I hope so.

If the dvd player is older and not specifically made to handle "burns" then lookup on the internet whether there is compatibility...there are a ton of sites with lists concerning the issue, some older units will play dvd+r burns but not dvd-r burns or vice versa etc. If the player is burn compatible try a different brand of disks and make sure it's "finalizing" the disk. Unfinalized disks may play in a computer but won't in a standalone even if it's able to accept burns. I have usually pretty good luck with HP dvds and TDK's I bought a pile of when they were on sale also seem pretty good. Good luck.

What is "My DVD Buddy"?

Please provide the full name and version of your software? Is it a boxed version (store bought) or downloaded version?

I'm very frustrated. I upgraded from EMC 7 to 10. Went to updates and loaded program from site as advised. When I built a project in My DVD the background on the style menu was black after burning to Disc. Did a clean install of original program disc. Everything appeared to work. After burning the project to disc two different DVD players were not able to play it. Made image of the project, used Copy program to burn it to a Disc, same outcome. The disc plays on my computers but not players. Have reloaded program, clean install, checked for firmware updates. I copied an old movie to my hard drive and used the copy program to burn a DVD of it and it worked fine in my DVD players. Have tried with a new MY DVD project, same result, won't play. Have used up a good dozen DVD's from atleast four or 5 different brands, Sony, Memorex, and KHyper Media. I'm using a hp pavilion a520n, 2.2 AMD prosessor, with 1 Gig of Ram. Any suggestions?Easy media creator 10.

If the DVD plays properly on your computer using a software DVD player (such as Cineplayer or Windows Media Player) then the program did its job properly and the issue is between the media you are using and the DVD players. Use some better quality DVDs such as Verbatim if you have not already done so.

You have also left perhaps the most important spec from your system - what is your videocard or graphics adaptor? A google search seems to indicate that your system has on-board video chip with very limited video memory. Have you set your render method to software under Tools/Options?

You have not given any indication on how you are "copying" to DVD. For example, how did you copy "an old movie to my hard drive and used the copy program to burn a DVD"? There are several ways to do this? How exactly did you do it?

What is myDVD Buddy?
