I want to copy a dual-layer DVD without compression, but it doesn't appear that Disc Copier allows that option in version 7.5. Is it possible?

Copying a DL disc to a DL disc, in Version 7.5, is no problem at all, unless the disc that you are trying to copy is a commercial DVD.

Really???

If I load the dual layer burner with a dual layer disc. Then open disc copy and select the 7.5gb ISO as the source in the left pane. The right pane shows the dual layer burner copying to a dual layer disc.

Disc Copier does not warn about needing to compress to fit the disc?

NO!

I then loaded a pre burned disc 7.9gb in the source pane on one drive. To copy to the dual layer burner in the right pane. With a dual layer disc in the drive and again no warning on compression either.

If you go into options on the left pane and at the bottom of that screen. There's video quality on DVD 4.7 gb ( compared to original ) a bar graph loaded 1/2 way, and underneath says high compression.

I take that as warning to fit the source to a single layer disc. Here's what you will have. Not a bug as Bruce described because I get no warning about compression on the main screen when the proper disc is loaded.

Does this answer you question James?

cdanteek

Yes it does, however there was a 'bug' in the 7.1 and it would issue the warning but not actually do the compression…

We did see this from time to time in V7.5 so I would have to say that your experience is atypical from others. I don't have v7 loaded on any PC that has a DL burner so I can not revisit the issue.

I have EMC v7.5. Like cdanteek, I never got any compression warning in the scenario described in this thread.

About 95% of the projects (about 15 videos) I made are almost close to 2 hours each project and each video is more than 7gb in file size. I never ever received the compression warning if I burn an ISO file (that exceeds 4.7 gb in file size) AND if I have a DL inside the burner. The DC window will simply show the video quality relative to using 4.7gb DVD (e.g., low compression). The example in the image (via link) shows a project that is 7.66 gb.
