Should I Uninstall MyVideoLab 10 before installling Creator2009

bigtex

Question

Am I unreasonable?

I have MyDVDVideoLab10 installed and videowave10 crashes constantly. I want to migrate to Roxio2009.

Since MVL10 is a legacy product and it seems that lots of Roxio users seem to have problems with .Net 3.5 SP1, Vista SP2, Sonic Update Manager and Microsoft Windows Update, I want to do a clean install of Roxio2009.

But I may be wasting my time to install 2009 unless I get the MDVDVideoLab10 totally uninstalled and removed.

Where are step-by-step instructions to remove MyDVDVL10? Am i being overly cautious? is this necessary?

Does anyone know which specific MS Updates/Patches are the ones that kill VideoWave? Can those specific patches be uninstalled?

You never said anything about ‘freezing up’ before…

Maybe you would care to share some details???

In my first post at top... 2nd sentence... i said it "constantly crashes". Sorry for not using the exact precise word...

To me, when an application "crashes", the app can hang, lock up the pc, or just get killed and go away... maybe I shoud have specified which.

This started when I was using MyDVDVideoLab (see thread by me on that legacy product). The Roxio app seems to have devastating effects on any machine I put it on.

You can remove MYDVDVideoLab10 via the Control Panel remove programs and then do a clean install of Creator 2009.

Clean install instructions for Creator 2009 on Windows Vista Do not skip any steps!

And then apply Creator 2009 SP4:

Status:

msconfig - disable all = check

Ctrl Panel - uninstall MyDVDVideoLab10 = check

& uninstall SmartSound = check

Install and run MS Install Clean Up Util = check

**BUT** when I scroll down the list of items to Clean Up, NONE say Roxio, DirectX, Sonic, EMC or SmartSound. They are not on the list ot clean up. This doesn't follow with the instructions on doing a clean install.

What now?

I dont want to skip it and go on... What other choice do I have?

OK. I figured since the instrcutions were written for uninstalling Creator or EMC, so they may differ from

what I need to remove MyDVDVidLab10.

Moving on... Thanks and will update after registry is backed up/edited.

How about telling us about the machine you are installing it on? What OS?
