Use Roxio Sound Editor to import the sound. If you create an .iso of your video then use Import from CD/DVD with Roxio Sound Editor. You will have choices on the output file type and watch when the file is being stored. Actually, you can bring in your .vob stuff directly.

This does not seem to work for every DVD. I have tried from 5 different DVDs I have (none of any commercial, copyrighted DVDs) and on only 3 DVDs was I able to capture directly from the DVD. On the 2 that failed I got an error message about incorrect/invalid audio codec.

Hi,

When I use the Medea Manager to try to extract audio from a DVD disc, that option is is grayed out. I have tried right clicking all the entries on the DVD, the option is still grayed out.

What kind of DVD is this? Commercial or a home-burned DVD? For commercial DVDs that option may well be disabled since extracting the audio would be illegal.

I have tried a couple of home-burned DVDs. The last one I tried had a VIDEO_TS folder containing VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.VOB, VTS_01_0.IFO, and three VTS_o1 files. All of the above have grayed out Extract Audio. Does anyone have a suggestion about a free DVD Ripper?

I also have the Extract Audio greyed out when I try to extract audio from a DVD.

I don't think you can extract the audio directly from the DVD. You could try first capturing the video from the DVD to a mpg file on your hard drive and then use Nedia Manager to extract the audio

You can also try with Audio.Music Director to extract the audio. It seems to have an option where you can extract audio from a DVD.
