What do I have?

Question

I recieved a new company laptop. It came with a CD titled Roxio Creator 9.0 DE PN H025G still sealed in the envelope. I see where there are several ppl calling this by different names.

I told my IT ppl I needed a DVD burning program with this laptop and they said this would work. I loaded it and tried to make something work....anything work...! I havent gotten very far with it.

I dont see anything in the menu for burning a DVD or any of the menu items I have been reading about on this forum (dvd editing, wave and so on). So what is it that I have, exactly. Will it only make CDs or will it make DVDs as well? JPEGs, video or just music? I dont find the help files all that helpful with regards to what I want to do. Granted I am not an IT guy but I didnt just fall off of the turnip truck either. A little help and insite about this program would be appreciated

Thank you

If the Roxio Creator 9.0 DE came with your computer (a Dell?) then its most likely an OEM version which means it will have many of the full retail features crippled or even missing. Most likely burning video DVDs is one of these features disabled. You might be able to burn data to the DVD (so technically its a DVD burning program) but you won't be able to burn any video DVDs. Your IT people don't seem to be that well informed

BTW, the latest Roxio program is Roxio Creator 2009 which is 2 versions further along (as well as 2 years later)
