Clipping indicator locking up!

wilhelm

Question

I am using Easy VHS to DVD and recording audio cassettes. I have recorded about 20 cassettes with no problem, now all of a sudden when I try to record side two of a cassette, the recording volume indicator jumps to clipping and will not allow the program to insert seperation between the tracks. The volume of the recording has not changed and it has done this on more than one cassette. I am monitoring the music as I record and there is no change in the volume of the music. Any suggestions?

Please clarify.... is the problem ONLY on side two of a cassette.

Yes, side one records fine, I hit pause flip the tape over, and almost as soon as it starts playing the recording level indicator goes into the red and indicates clipping and stays there even if I let the tape continue to run into the next song. So even when there is no audio being played the indicator still indicates clipping.

AND is it with all cassettes or just some?

I have recorded about 20 or so tapes with no problem before this issue came up.
