One huge slideshow?

teceng

Question

So I am creating a slideshow that is really broken down into about 6 sections. I hasd previously used Movie Maker on previous slideshows and created 6 smaller slideshows and created individual movies of each. Then I started a new project and inserted all 6 movies and created one large one. This was easier to create and easier to sort through the pics in the process.

If I use the same process using Videowave, will there be any loss in image quality by compressing the movie twice, or is this not an issue? The benefit of doing this when using Movie Maker was it handled the smaller movies better (more stable). Any issues here?

Thanks!

In Roxio, you would make your individual slideshows in Videowave, save each. When you are done compiling the slideshows and editing them the way you want them, then you will take the first one and add it to MyDVD, then add each of the remaining slideshows in the order you want them to play. How many pictures in each of these slideshows? With a little more information we can give you more detailed advise.

Do you have the Roxio v8 suite?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I have V8 suite. I have approximately 70-100 slides in each section. When I want to play them back, I want them to run consecutively, without any intervention from the user. Essentially I want the user to click on the "PLAY" button on the DVD menu and all 6 will play in order. I figured I would compile the 6 slide shows in Videowave in one main project, but I assume they will be movie files that I have created from the individual slide shows previously created in Videowave. Correct?

I have read the last part of your message and can't seem to understand what you are meaning. First of all, do you have the deluxe suite or essentials. If you compile it (in Videowave) as one slideshow, you can add it to MyDVD and make chapters if you want. There is no encoding done until you burn it to dvd or to hard drive. So there is not a double encoding. I know that answers one of your questions. It seems the other question was whether you can make separate slideshows add them to MyDVD for burning and have them play as one. This will depend on which version of 8 you have. Are all the slideshows already made in Videowave? I am a little confused as to what you are actually asking and what you have already done.

Sorry for the confusion, I am asking in the context of what I have dome with Movie Maker so it may not be the same. First, I have EMC8 Suite (not the duluxe suite, not essentials). I created a slideshow of about 70 slides last night which consists of the last segment of the overall slideshow. I brought it into MyDVD and it created one "button" for the slideshow. I burned a test disc and it played great.

Now, I want to create the other 5 sections and somehow merge them into one slideshow. The way I see it I can either:

1. Make 6 separate Videowave projects and pull them into MyDVD. As far as I can tell, this will give me 6 separate "chapters". Can I get all 6 chapters to play consecutively by the user simply pressing one "button" on the main disc menu?

2. Make 6 separate Videowave projects, and create an encoded movie of each. Then create a new Videowave project that pulls all 6 movies together in the right sequence and then bring this into MyDVD to create the disc just like I did for the samle last night. This is why I fear the double-encoding and possible loss of quality.

I guess since I have probably gotten into this already more than i expected I should just start playing around with the "chapter" features and see what that does for me. I think that is the answer. But nonetheless, input and/or guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

To make a play all button

The easiest way:

Open MyDVD

Click ADD MOVIE

Navigate to your file.

Hold down the Control key and click on each file.

Click Add button

This puts all the files under one button. If they aren't in the correct order, you can click on EDIT MOVIE. In the storyboard mode, just drag the panels in the correct order. Click BACK TO MENU

Rename the button PLAY ALL

Select the button and copy to clipboard

Move the button slightly

Paste back the clipboard

Move this button and rename SELECT MOVIE (or whatever)

Right click on it and EDIT CHAPTER

Put a chapter mark where the begining of each movie was.

Done

You should have two buttons: Play ALL and Select Movie

The Select Movie button will take you to a submenu where the viewer can choose for those files you added.

OMG, I just tried this and it works perfectly!

I spent an hour this morning in the help files trying to figure out how to add an unlinked button to do this but the menu feature was greyed out. I found another post that said I would need the deluxe version to do this.

I cannot figure out why the heck Roxio cannot at least PUT THIS IN THE HELP FILE, in a place where people can find it. I would give this proram high marks if it weren't for this frustration.

MANY thanks!
