Roxio Video Capture USB device

Sandygramms

Question

I bought Roxio Creator 2009 Special Edition, which included a Bonus "Convert VHS to DVD" Roxio Video Capture USB Device. I have a four-year old HP desktop computer, Mod. m8120n. I have my VHS player hooked up to the Video Capture USB Device, but my computer is not recognizing the Roxio USB, no matter which USB port I put it in. I have tried the USB ports in the front and in the back. I have followed all of Roxio's instructions in the following "solutions" on Roxio's website:

1. Roxio Video Capture USB is not recognized by Roxio Products.

2. Resolving common capture issues with the Roxio Video Capture USB device

3. Update Creator 2009 - Service Pack 4

I have updated the drivers (www.roxio.com/go/videousb)

In Device Mgr, USB controllers, I DO have two that read "Enhanced", which means I DO have USB 2.0.

I have installed Creator 2009 - Service Pack 4

And I received an email response from Customer Care, which asked if I installed it correctly, which I did; I also updated to the newest version of Creator 2009, as they asked.

Nothing I've done has allowed this to work.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

If you place the driver disc in your drive for the USB Capture Device and you get a wizard wanting to install the driver, exit out of that ASAP. Then when the driver program comes up from the Disc, click on Install Driver. Then follow the directions---(See the following photo shots)

Then after it has completed, open up the device manager and look under the listing "Sound Vudeo and Game Controllers" and you should see two separate drivers that have been installed (See Photo Shot)

I DID follow those instructions when installing the Roxio Video Capture USB CD; and under Device Manager, Sound, Video and Game Controllers, I DO show 1) Roxio Video Capture USB, and 2) USB 2861 Device.

Well if your device manager shows the two USB capture device drivers, I would think that you completed that portion correctly. As far as exactly how you have your VHS player hooked up "might" be a problem. Does the VHS have audio/video "OUT" ports as well as Audio/Video "IN" ports ?? If so, can you hook up the audio/Video cables from the "OUT" port on the VHS and then to the audio/Video "IN" ports on a TV, and make it work ?? If it does play right on your TV, then it should also pick up in the USB Capture program when going from the "OUT" ports on the VHS to the cable "IN" ports that came with your USB Capture Device, and with the uSB Capture Device plugged into a USB 2.0 in port (preferably one on the back of the computer).

Thank you so much for your help. The issue has been resolved. It was my mistake. I was looking for the Roxio Video Capture USB device to show up when I looked in My Computer, which it doesn't. I talked to someone in Tech Support who straightened me out. This is my first attempt at copying a VHS tape to DVD. Thank you so much for your time.

Nice to see you found your error.

You are 0-2 on changing fonts. You might want to just let it ride on your next post. :)

Oh, it isn't your fault, either. It is the fault of the ISP software, for this site.

That's great that you fixed your problem. Good luck on capturing all that good stuff now. You will enjoy this program a lot :)
