If Toast 10 and Disk Utility freeze your burner the solution.

Question

If by mistake the Roxio Converted Items folder keep the files inside that may produce a bug in witch your burners stop working an even Apple Disk Utility too is no more working for burning.

That happen to me with Toast 10.0.2 with Mac OS X 10.5.7 , from nowhere the system freeze even Toast 10 refuse to force quit , only logout and restart seem to exit Toast.

Only after having deleted the file inside Roxio Converted Items everything get back to normal with Toast and Apple Disk Utility and my Burners get back and working as usual.

I'm no expert, but advice which I've seen given in answer to similar problems on this site stopped freezes/crashes for me with Toast + OSX 10 ; going to users / library / preferences and deleting not only the preferences but also the .plist file for Toast solved the problem.

However...

PS added a day or so later : this next point may or may not be relevant to your freezing / crashing problem, but if you look at the thread 'Crashes with new Macbook Pro + 10.5.8' which I started, this lead me to a solution (thanks to tsantee) involving using the 'save as disk image' function from the File menu in order to stop the crashes which were triggered by the 'fit to DVD' compression.

I hope that one or other of these points might help in your struggle.
