How to convert audio files to other format?

jsrx

Question

1.

It is hard for me to believe that being already in version 8, it is still a big deal to convert an audio file residing in the HD from one format to another. Not from CD, not into a CD, not into CD image. Just to convert file X.ac3 (in the HD) to X.mp3 in the HD (just as an example).

The user guide says explicitly that it can convert but says nothing about how to do that.

2.

While creating a DVD, there is an option to "Add Intro Movie".

What if I want to "Add Intro Audio" file (again, from HD!, and asume the file is for example in a .AC3 format)? Can this be done? The filters that I see when using "Add Intro Movie" do not allow. Can I modify the file type filter list?

Thanks,

Jeff

As far as converting file formats you can do this is Music Disc Creator.Choose add tracks.Once the track is added, right click on it and choose export. When the box pops up you can choose a location and a file format.

I'm not sure about your second question.

You have two choices for number 2

1) If you change the background audio, that audio will play for about 150 seconds and then repeat. If you want to do that, use Sound Editor to edit the piece of music you want to use to that length and us fade in/fade out so that when it loops it will not be an abrupt change.

2) Consider adding a true background movie. You can just add a still picture in VideoWave and adjust the duration to the same length as the music and then add the music. Render that project to a mpg best quality and then add it in as the Intro Movie. If you don't want a image, a black panel would also work.

You could also consider using CineMagic to produce an Intro Movie. Since that does not retain the native audio, you can add the music you want to the production (sort of a overture effect).

An alternate to your first question. You can also change the format of those audio files using Sound Editor. Add and then export tracks/ clips. If you downloaded them from a web site, in most cases you must burn them to a disc (rewritable) and then bring them back onto your hard drive.
