Can't "Add Intro Movie". I see "no entrance" sign over such files!

Question

I wanted to add an Intro Audio file to a DVD project.

Since I could not find how, I converted my X.AC3 audio file to several video files: X.WMV, X.MP4, X.ASF, etc.

Then, I wanted to use the available "Add Intro Movie" to add one such video file. But I browsed to the directory containing them, I see a "No entrance" sign on each one of them and can't select and add them to the project.

Any idea what is going on?

I start to get tired of this version 8. Should I go back to version 7 ?

Prefup doesn't always work but give it a try and see if it does.

"Add Intro Movie" only allow you to add video files and I'm not sure how you converted .AC3 "audio file" to "video files"

Like Ivan I am interested in your method of converting an audio file to a video file.

A movie is a combo of AUDIO + video. So think of creating a movie where there is no video (or it could be a still picture or just a blank frame) and there is only audio. That is what I have done (using Xilisoft SW).

So the assertion that "Add Intro Movie only allow..." is meaningless. My movie may contain either audio only, video only (as the first movies 100 years ago used to be...) or both.

See my other reply here.

Just create a movie with only a blank frame and your audio but you cannot have a movie with only audio. "Add Intro Movie" only allows you to add a movie, you cannot simply add an audio file by itself.

so what file format did you create you video file from Xilisoft SW when you combined the .ac3 file with a single frame image? also, are you able to play back the file with Windows Media Player? like seeing the still image with the audio in the background...

You should read ALL replies here to the original thread, so one does not need to repeat the same content.

I wrote that I have converted the original X.AC3 audio file to several MOVIE files such as X.ASF, X.AVI, X.WMV, X.VOB.

I did not have a problem to play them back with either Windows Media Player (9) and with PowerDVD.

Please read carefully before you respond. I did not write a long Megillah.

Are you trying to get help here? Doesn't sound like you're making friends by the way you respond to them. Just because you don't get the most helpful answer doesn't mean we are not trying to help you.

In short, it needs to be in a DVD compliant format - mpg2 in order for it to be used as an introductory movie.

let's take this another way then... Other than the X.ASF, X.AVI, X.WMV, X.VOB files you created from Xilisoft SW, are you able to use "Add Intro Movie" to add video files (.asf, .wmv.avi etc) from a different source?

I think that you should not make your posts so cryptic. You made an assumption that folks knew what you were talking about when in fact, your response made no sense whatsoever. Think about that for a moment.
