grandpabruce Posted July 28, 2009 Report Share Posted July 28, 2009 In addition to what Walt said, you didn't get one, with your Sony, so you will have to purchase one. Don't buy a cheap firewire cable, and make sure the ends match your camcorder and your computer. Your camcorder, more than likely has a 4 pin connection, and your computer, if it has a firewire input, is probably a 6 pin, unless you have a laptop. Go to System/Hardware/Device Manager, and see if you have an entry for IEEE 1394 bus host controllers. If there is an entry, you have a firewire port. If there is an entry, you have a firewire port. I don't know what I am doing wrong here, but my camcorder is USB streaming, it doesn't have the Ilink cable support.
