Transitions

Question

I am wondering if anyone knows if you can somehow steamline transistions from another program into emc8? I have been making banquet productions for the high school hockey games and I need alot of exciting transitions.I have been using emc7 and I thought I would upgrade to emc8 thinking that it would have some more new and improved transistions, but was so dissapointed to find that it actually had much less than emc 7 ??? so I went back to the emc7.

I also tried Pinnacle studio 8 it had alot of great transitions and you could download even more if you want. The problem is that the program wasn't stable and I couldn't use it.

Does anyone know if you can buy transitions from Roxio or anyother company and use them in emc7 or 8 ? or use them from emc7 and put into emc8 ?

Thanks,

Karen

Actually, depending on what version of EMC 8 that you got, it has a ton more transitions than 7 or 7.5.

And no, you can't get transtions from somewhere else and use them in EMC 8.

Do you know I just looked and I don't have emc8 it is photosuite 8 & vidioe wave 8 premier suite.I thought that was the upgrade ?? and paid $100 for it ! darn, and just for more transistions. So if you have used the emc7 do you feel it's worth paying anothr $100 for emc 8, it's worth it to me if it has some awesome transitions. Do you know if you can buy the transitions directly from Roxio ? like in Pinnacle?

Thanks

You can't buy transitions from Roxio. If you are updating to just add more transitions, it is up to you whether or not it is worth it. EMC 8 is not installed on the computer that I am on now, and I won't be back to my computer for a week, so I can't tell you what the differences are in the transitions. Maybe someone else will stop in and offer their opinion.

There are alot more, and different transitions in v8, however, I can't compare it with Pinnacle. I have both v7 and v8 and I like them both for different reasons. It is important to have v8 Deluxe suite to take advantage of everything, but keep v7 if you have it. I personally feel it is worth having both. There are some things you can do with v8 that you can't with v7. If you go on Roxio website and look at the comparison chart and you will see all the things available in v8 Deluxe Suite.

Maybe you can help me understand something. I have v. 7 (7.5) and v. 8 on my machine, both downloaded from Roxio, however, I have many fewer transitions in v. 8 than I have in v. 7.5 and I DO NOT have the option of doing random transitions in either software. What am I doing wrong? Where did all these transitons go? I have "Creator Suite 8 Home." Do I have a "lesser" product than I thought I had purchased; it appeared to be the best available when I bought it. Also, many people keep singing the praises of the "deluxe" version but, despite the Roxio press release of a couple months ago that existing v. 8 users could download the deluxe version for $20 in April, there is no way that I can see on the website to do this. The only option is to purchase the new deluxe version. Am I missing something? Thanks.

When you downloaded the V8, did you download two separate files? You should have downloaded the program and the "Content" files. You should have over 246 transitions in V8. If you did not, you can go back and download that other file.

The upgrade to the deluxe has not yet arrived.

In V8, VideoWave, storyboard view, after you have added the images, right click on one and select apply transition theme. The last one on the list is potluck (246) transitions. Sorry, I don't remember about how to do it in V7 but I would guess it is about the same.

Have you run the graphics test in Videowave or MyDVD? This deteremines whether or not your video card will support the 3D transitions/effects. If the test defaults to software render, then all the 3D transitions and effects will NOT be available.

Thank you all for the help and the clues in fixing my problem. I noticed that I had transitons in EMC7.5 that I did not have in EMC 8 (e.g., the Fall Over, the Rotating Block - Cube Turn in EMC 8). I did the video check in EMC 8 and it did default to software. So, I uninstalled EMC8 and reinstalled, including the content piece, and, voila, everything is working great now. The video test does not default to software, although it warns me that things may run slower on the hardware option. All the transitions are present and I am happy as a pig in mud! This is a great forum and I appreciate the time you people spend helping us slow learners and fast forgetters.
